Stephen Chase – I am getting on nicely in the dark

Stephen Chase composes, improvises, and walks quite a lot. His work veers erratically between generative ideas and following-his-nose, and he is drawn to, amongst other things, the relationship between physical action and sound production, group interactions, and the acoustic characteristics of a space. He has collaborated variously with Ross Parfitt, Philip Thomas, Bank Street Arts, Exaudi, Quatuor Bozzini, Choir Brevis, Apartment House, Ensemble Zwischentöne, Music We’d Like to Hear, Sound Intermedia, BBC Singers, Mick Beck, Damo Suzuki, omoplate sarangi, murmuration, piggle and Freaking Glamorous Teapot.

I am getting on nicely in the dark is a study in perception, at least, that’s how it started…
