WROUGHT came into being after we went to a festival at Battersea Arts Centre in 2011. We were doing an MA in Theatre and Performance at Sheffield University and one part of the course was looking at One-to-One. So, we went off to London for the weekend the name of education. What we experienced was unlike anything we’d experienced before throughout our lives as students and audiences of theatre. It was at times thrilling and uncomfortable, at others beautiful and compelling. On the train back to north, we were busy with ideas and stories, and our main thought was – other people should have the chance to experience this. It felt important and urgent. And with that as our motivation, in 2014 we held the first WROUGHT Festival in Sheffield. Two days of one-to-one performance, and it was brilliant.
